Even though the iPhone 5's aluminum backing removed the odds of shattering the glass by 50%, some people will always be on the wrong side of the odds. These are those people. Those poor, unfortunate, unlucky souls who have already broken their brand new iPhone 5 after only a week.
I don't want to jinx myself here—I'm totally jinxing myself here—but I've never been on the other end of a shattered iPhone before. But I do know that anytime I drop that slippery soap of a phone, I get that huge sinking feeling that's similar to heartbreak. I feel for you guys.

You know how most people who've used Google Maps and Apple Maps realize that Apple Maps is inexcusably bad and most definitely inferior? Yeah, these are not those people. These people don't give a crap what you think and actually really love the new Apple maps!
The reasons for such backwards lovin' range from features like "talking maps" to "street view" to just pure unadulterated joy. Sometimes very good, well to do people love very bad things, I guess. Or maybe it's just not that big of a deal. Anyways, I applaud them for their positivity.

The iPhone 5 runs on an Apple-designed A6 chip, which has been widely reported as running at 1.0GHz. The software that performed that analysis, Geekbench, was recently updated to an iOS 6-enabled version, and the iPhone 5 was tested again. Turns out that the A6 CPU dual-cores are actually running at 1.3GHz, which is a bit faster than previously thought.
THe current 1.3GHz number comes right from the latest iOS 6 build of Geekbench, the iOS benchmarking software generally accepted as the authority on these things. In a post at Engadget, this later build is described by Primate Labs‘ John Poole as “a dramatically improved

Corroborating an earlier report, the New York Times is reporting that Google is currently developing Google Maps for iOS and hopes to finish it by the end of the year. So iPhone owners running iOS 6, get used to the mixed up world of Apple Maps for the next couple of months.

While it still isn’t possible to change the default browser in Apple’s latest iOS6, Chrome brings many features to the table, like bookmark and tab sync with desktop Chrome browsers as well as more direct access to the Google ecosystem with a Google sign in.

In our iPhone 5 camera battle, we mostly pitted it against cameras in its own weight class: the Galaxy SIII, the HTC One X and the 4S. Sure, we stacked the odds a bit when we compared it to the Canon S100 and Nokia's 808 PureView, but we didn't go as far as to see how it fared with a Canon 5D Mark III. Maybe we should have.

The web content clipping service is already seeing 20 percent of its daily app traffic coming from the just-released iPhone 5, and 60 percent coming in from devices with iOS 6 installed. That may sound like a lot, but after Apple announced 100 million iOS devices already updated to iOS 6, and over 5 million iPhone 5s already in the hands of consumers, it’s not so much of a stretch.

Really it was only a matter of time, but this was still surprisingly fast. What you see above is the iOS 5.1 version of Google Maps running—albeit a little jankily—in iOS 6. The porting was done by one Ryan Petrich, who says the port is working pretty well, but isn't quite ready for release to the public yet. Yet.
As with all good things, the iOS 6 version of Google Maps will require a jailbreak, but it's not like someone hasn't already managed to jailbreak the iPhone 5, so that's not too big of a deal. Keep your eyes open for the return of Google Maps on a Cydia app store near you.

Apple's new, buggy maps have been getting a lot of negative attention recently, but talk is cheap. iOS / Mac Dev. creates MAME arcade machine powered by an iPhone - 9to5mac.comPatrick McCarron is an iOS and Mac developer with an avid passion for video games. Patrick set out to make his own MAME arcade cabinet and planned to use an older Mac Mini to power it but came up with the idea to use an iDevice to save time and resources. You can see the entire parts list on his blog, but the main components are the Arcade cabinet, iCade, iDevice (A4 Chip or greater) and the Apple iPad VGA connector. The arcade cabinet and monitor are obviously the most costly parts, the rest can be had for around $100.

Apple’s making commercials again, but this time they’re really really good. If you’re not sold on picking up an iPhone 5 yet, these ads spotted by Macstories will probably get you stoked.
Each ad has a theme and a one word name. The ads show off different capabilities of the iPhone 5, and I must say that they’re extremely compelling. Have a look:
Physics
Cheese
Thumb
Ears
My favorite one definitely has to be “Thumb”, as it shows off Apple’s genius marketing and ability to explain the complex in a simple way. Well done, Apple.
Also, I’m not surprised that “Maps” wasn’t released as an ad.
